My name is Scott White. I am an artist, carpenter, tinkerer and student. I am working my way through a Bachelors of Fine Arts at the University of Houston Clear Lake. Hopefully one day I’ll figure out what I want to be when I grow up.
At this point in my journey I am working at a sign company. I try to make time to explore some creative outlets. I enjoy sculpting, tinkering, printmaking and drawing. I have been doing some printmaking, mainly linoblock relief prints. I like the look and feel of this style of print and I enjoy the process from sketches to carving the blocks and finally making prints. It is a very hands-on medium with multiple steps required to accomplish a finished product. Most designs are made by carving multiple linoblocks for each color used, alternatively, I am exploring the use of screen printing and hand coloring to add variety and also a touch of uniqueness to each print.
Recently, I have begun exploring doing some sculpture using cardboard as the primary building material. I did a couple of different pieces as school assignments a little while back and have decided to explore this medium further. I enjoy taking a material that most people discard and making something inventive and creative out of it. I try and use as much repurposed materials or found objects and supplies as possible in the creation of my sculptures.
